CANDLE FAQ
What wax do you use in your candles?
We use 100% natural soy wax for the following great reasons. Soy wax is:

Kind to the environment. We use only 100% natural soy wax. Soy wax is plant based and is derived from the fast growing Soybean plant. It is renewable, sustainable and is naturally biodegradable.

Kind to your health, as it is non-toxic and clean burning (minimal smoke),

Burns slower and longer than, for example, paraffin wax as it has a low melting temperature.

Easier to clean, if there are spills. This benefit also comes from the low melting temperature.
What wicks do you use in your candles?
We use cotton wicks that are made of 100% cotton and are finished with a soy wax coating.
What fragrance do you use in your candles?
We use concentrated fragrance oils that are International Fragrance Association (IFRA) compliant and certified. They are:

Vegan

Made from natural, naturally derived, and synthetic ingredients

Do not contain UV inhibitors, phthalates, paraffin, mineral or palm oil
Do you refill used candle jars?
We currently offer a candle jar refill service for customers in Howick and surrounding areas.
How do I clean the jar so that it can be reused?
Simply pour boiling hot water into the jar and leave it until it cools. The wax will melt, float to the top and solidify when it cools. You can then just lift it off ( it's very satisfying š). You may need to repeat the process depending on the amount of wax that was remaining in the jar. Once all the wax is removed use something like a butter knife to carefully remove the wick base stuck to the bottom of the jar (some jars are painted on the inside so be careful not to scrape away the paint). Then simply wash with warm soapy water, and dry.
PLEASE NOTE: We are confident this process will work on candles purchased from Mauve Candles. If you have a candle purchased somewhere else, we don’t recommend this technique if the jar has thin glass, as it may shatter.
How should I burn my candle?

PERFUME FAQ
How long will the perfume last on my skin?
It should last most of the day but you’ll likely want to re-apply once or twice to give it a boost. Other people will probably notice it for longer than you, as your nose can become used to the smell over time.
How long will a 10ml bottle last?
A 10 ml roll-on perfume oil should last at least 2-3 months if applied everyday. So if you’re using it less frequently than that it may last for a year.
How do you make your perfume?
We source our favourite perfume oil fragrance from various suppliers and blend it with a combination of ingredients that achieves a delicate, moisturising finish we hope you’ll love. They are individually hand-bottled and packaged for you to enjoy.
How do I apply the perfume
Mauve perfume oils are designed to apply to the pulse points on your body. Rub the perfume roller back and forth on your chosen pulse points.
Applying to pulse points will maximise the time the perfume lasts through the day. We’re all a bit different and have different preferences, so try out different spots to determine what works best for you.
Recommended pulse points are:

Do you allow pickups?
Not right now sorry. But if you live in the Howick and surrounding areas, there is no shipping charge. If your address qualifies for free shipping, it will be applied automatically at check-out.
Do you ship outside New Zealand?
We currently only deliver to New Zealand addresses.
Do you offer returns?
Yes! See our refunds policy.
